Machismo is alive and well in Argentina. But dig this crazy ad for La Blanca canned pears published in Para Ti magazine in December 1946. The woman’s facial expression is so Argentine. It cracks me up! The wife says, “How smart! You chose the easiest!” The man replies all cockily, “And the most delicious!”
Growing up not too rich in L.A., my family ate a lot of canned and frozen food: Spam, Hormel Vienna Sausages, Totinos Pizza, lots of burritos. Those were my pre-organic, watch-what-goes-into-your-food days. Sigh! When I graduated from college and was on my own, I still ate out of a can, but those cans started costing twice as much and came from Whole Foods and Trader Joes. Just heat up and voila! Instant lunch or dinner! Si! Que inteligente que soy!

Yup, this is my the blog for my Etsy shop (www.lavidavintage.etsy.com). It’ll chronicle my treasure hunting expeditions, cool finds, and just some funky pictures of vintage items I covet. Make sure you check my shop frequently starting in June 3, as I’ll be posting something new every day.
I heart Etsy. I heart the Etsy community of live, funky people on the planet who are doing something fun and different and making some cashola, too.
But, my ideas don’t stop with Etsy. For more contemporary clothing, I am opening home boutique for new-old stock or previously-loved basics and more dressy clothes (www.foundloveclothing.com) for locals looking for something different and affordable. The target opening date for FoundLove is July 4, 2008.
Well, LuVVies, please do check my Etsy shop for more vintage fun! Take care, and Live La Vida Vintage!!
Evie (P.S. If any of you are in Buenos Aires, please send me an e-mail at lavidavintage@gmail.com, or convo me at www.lavidavintage.etsy.com! I’d love to meet you!)
